Methodology

To fully understand ACWP is to recognize its history and traditions that make our organization unique. ACWP was founded by a group of friends motivated with an exceptional desire to help children, especially the displaced Vietnamese orphans living in refugee camps. The initial purpose of ACWP was to assist orphans of Vietnamese descent who were displaced throughout the Southeast Asia refugee camps as a result of the Vietnam War. Out of necessity, our goal was to provide these children with the urgent medical and educational assistance while no other organizations at that time were focusing on these children.

As ACWP’s activities transitioned from hardships facing refugees in camps to repatriation support and then the hardship as a repatriate facing life back in Vietnam, our organization discovered that most children returned to Vietnam are often homeless or in parentless situation.   Worse, most children came from the rural areas and because of the repatriation, they had to live in the street.

Over time, ACWP works with local government to identify areas that needed new school construction.   Identified areas include the rural areas of Hue in Central Vietnam resulted in the construction of 7 Elementary Schools to provide free education, including school supplies and uniform, to all disadvantaged from 1st -5th grades.

Our educational programs gear toward building the basic foundation for the children at all levels.  This baseline academic preparation will provide these disadvantaged children with the resources and financial support that they need to be successful in continuing their academic pursuits.  In addition, based on the scholarship programs, ACWP is able to identify gifted students and provide these disadvantaged students with long term assistance until their potentials are realized.

We create and provide an environment where these disadvantaged Vietnamese children can learn, laugh, hope and dream like all other children in the world. And perhaps, instill in them that anything is possible!

After several measurable achievements in Hue, ACWP is proud to partner with the Hue Medical University Hospital in providing basic healthcare services, including Hepatitis B vaccinations and corrective surgery for the children and their family in the rural areas.

ACWP has also reached out to other NGOs in relief efforts to provide urgent, in-kind, and direct financial assistance to the victims who are affected by the natural disasters throughout Vietnam.

In addition to serving the disadvantaged children in Vietnam, ACWP also provides assistance to the children in the local Bay-Area community through various collaboration projects with the local government and humanitarian organizations.

We strive to promote arts, culture and education, while also providing aid to families and children through our education, healthcare, and emergency relief programs.

ACWP’s guiding philosophy continues to direct our organization today and into the future.

We focus on children.
We help one child at a time.
We take on the cases no one else is willing to take.
We promote self-sufficiency.

All the programs are administered with an unpaid staff in the U.S.  About 90% of total funds are channeled to the program development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvements for the under-privileged children in Vietnam.  About 10% of total funds are provided for the local community outreach effort raising awareness on human trafficking at the high school level, professional/student mentorship, college preparation, and career counseling. The funding is provided by matching corporate grants, public and private foundations, and individual donors.

We welcome each donor's contribution no matter how great or small with deep gratitude.
